We arrived after dark and reception was closed, but we'd notified them in advance and they'd given us the gate code so we could get in.
Overnight, the camp was quiet with an occasional distant dog bark or the sound of an owl or two.
It's a large site with a small, private beach and foot jetty on Lago Di Bracciano which makes it popular for canoeists, paddle boarding and anything else lake based. The pitches, static caravans and cabins are sited in what looks like an old olive grove with some larger mature trees that provide shade. There are no smaller shrubs so there is no natural privacy or anything to block the view of all of the vans, canins and tents around you.
The amenities block is well used and somewhat basic. Hot showers require tokens and you need to bring your own hand soap and toilet paper. Toilets are mostly foot plate type with a couple of standard ones and there are plenty of hand basins (no hot water) in the lady's area - also the men's I am informed. There's a large dishwashing (hot water on timers on the wall) and clothes washing area (and even an ironing area with an ironing board) also washing lines if you haven't got your own. There are waste bins (sorted for recycling) just outside and at the rear of the amenities block. Black water disposal is also here.
There is a restaurant and bar on site and also a large covered social area for when the weather isn't so good. The restaurant is open from early and serves coffee and breakfast. There is a play area for small children and a fenced five a side football pitch.
There is no shop in reception, but they do have maps and postcards and the people are lovely and happy to provide information and help.
The local town with its castle, shops and restaurants is not far (cycling) away.
One thing to note, roads in the area are not in good repair and from leaving the Autostrada to the site the journey could be a little slower than you expect.
Great location if you enjoy lakes and views, quiet, but the amenities are a little basic.
Liked: Lovely laid out site on banks beautiful lake. Restaurant was excellent and staff very accommodating. Permanent residents were very friendly and helpful. Lovely town of Bracciano a short bike ride away. Facilities clean but basic. …
Liked: This is a lovely campsite with a divine lake and a family friendly restaurant and bar including a little shop with useful supplies. There is a good vibe here. …
Liked: The view over the lake and the sunset is superb but that’s where it ends. …
Liked: Solitude view of the lake and surrounding area.
Friendly reception which spoke English …
Nothing special and expensive for what it is! €30+ per night. Truthfully you're just paying for the location.
I have stayed at sites half the price that are much nicer. For example the toilets are either a hole in the floor or a toilet without a seat - yes in 2023?!?!? Was also a bit ridiculous that when rates are €30 a night you have to pay extra for showers - I've stayed in many budget campsites for €10 - €20 that give you free hot showers. Plus the 'hot' water for dishes was on a timer and never actually hot.
Staff & service were fine, again nothing special, didn't make you feel like they were happy you chose their site over othersik the area - one of the men (security I think) was very rude and couldn't be bothered to help us when reception was closed (at 2pm). The bar man and lady in reception were nice.
The biggest let down is the permanent/semi-permanent guests!!
They walk around like they own the place and give the 'temporary guests' horrible looks - plus they make a lot of noise and don't respect the generally peaceful atmosphere.
Be careful of the man with the dog living near the bar - I saw him shouting at another guest really agressively, and for 2 of the 3 days we were there he was using heavy machinery (drilling, sanding, sawing) and hammering wood for hours on end - I think he was building a wooden fence or something, but the noise was unbearable. One day it lasted for 4 hours without any break (I counted the hours because it was so annoying). It really ruined the experience.
Plus its funny because there are so many silly rules in this place, you can't drive out the site or wash your dishes between 2pm - 4pm (yet you can use heavy machinery if you're a permanent resident?!?!?).
Overall I enjoyed the experience, but mainly for the location and the views of the lake. However, I won't return to this campsite.
For comparrison, I've just arrived at a campsite in Lake Trasimeno which is much more modern and clean and is €16/night with free hot water and showers.... plus no permanent residents!!
Campsite is nice enough, good price for what you get. We picked our own spot and it was shady and convenient. The campsite isn't too big, the facilities are normal, cleaner in the afternoon then at night, to be expected. The staff are friendly and the bar is cheap and well stocked. Receptionist is really kind, and the younger lady in the bar is wonderful. Good pizzeria. Nice lake beach.
A little noisy in the evening but we were there on a weekend and we didn't mind people enjoying themselves.
Only complaint is the permanent residents are a little hostile and judgey, and it felt like they wanted to make it clear that they rule the place at times, especially some of the older guests who were a bit rude in passing.
This is the perfect place to camp the caravan. Very clean and tidy, friendly staff. There is a private beach to Bracciano lake with a beautiful view. Amazing traditional dishes as well. We’ll definitely be back in September. Many thanks for the great hospitality.
Liked: Lovely lake location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Facilities are currently basic and clean but there is a lot of work being done across the site. Takeaway available at weekends.
We were only supposed to pass trough but we fell in love with the place. The staff was amazing, the food was great and the overall atmosphere was good. A great place to relax and have fun for fellow adventurers. The views are beautiful and we had lots of fun renting a boat.
